Simple sentences

  • He needed a new secretary.
  • She had fallen in love.
  • Holmes listened with moist eyes.

Compound sentences

  • When Holmes next appeared, Mrs. Crowe asked him where Julia might be.
  • Burnham now possessed formal authority to begin building a fair, but he still had no place to put it.

Complex sentences
